1. Identify whether you have split finishes in your locks. The technological name for them is Trichoptilosis, a longitudinal breaking of the locks roughage, and there are several types:
• The common end split

• A split happening in the center of the locks string that will appear as an opening if the string is bunched up
2. Always use locks shears if you are reducing your own locks, even if you are only reducing a string. Frequent document scissors can arena your finishes and cause more divides later on.
